Riney B Park
Riney B Park, named for a regional railroad that operated from the 1890s to the
1930s, now has a visible reminder about its heritage.
On Sept. 30, a 1925 steam locomotive was moved from Paris to the park off the U.S. 27 Bypass in
Nicholasville. The steam engine was donated by the Kentucky Central Chapter of the National Railway
Historical Society, a group that had used the locomotive for excursions.
The Baldwin locomotive, which sat unused for 17 years, was manufactured by the same company that
made the engines that chugged along the Riney B years ago, said Jessamine County Fiscal Court
Magistrate George Dean.
"I thought it would be a great display for this park," Dean said. "I want people to understand the history of
the rail lines in Jessamine County." Read complete article.
